I really hate these pads of watercolor paper I bought.  I've been trying to use them up as quickly as I can, looking forward to when they're gone so I can buy new paper.  These have no texture, no grip for the paint, and their absorbency simply has the weirdest property.  I've used an entire pad, but I'm no closer to mastering this cheap substrate than I was when I started.  It's not amenable to my styles at all.

Every once in a while, I treat myself to a piece of good paper from my treasure stash, but sparingly!  That's the paper that allows me to paint the cutest mice, and the drunken daffodils like I painted Thursday.  The violets I painted today were on the crap paper, and they look like it.  Brushing is not fun this way.    **grumpy**

I feel your pain about poor quality papers. Although, I too will say that it is another type of fun not to expect "masterpieces" each time I wield my brush. Just whack, cheap papers allow you to do that. ;)
