I really hate these pads of watercolor paper I bought. I've been trying to use them up as quickly as I can, looking forward to when they're gone so I can buy new paper. These have no texture, no grip for the paint, and their absorbency simply has the weirdest property. I've used an entire pad, but I'm no closer to mastering this cheap substrate than I was when I started. It's not amenable to my styles at all.
Every once in a while, I treat myself to a piece of good paper from my treasure stash, but sparingly! That's the paper that allows me to paint the cutest mice, and the drunken daffodils like I painted Thursday. The violets I painted today were on the crap paper, and they look like it. Brushing is not fun this way. **grumpy**

Special Puzzle for the Holidays
As I said, I posted another puzzle for sale at Zazzle. It can be purchased at this link, http://www.zazzle.com/original_art_print_puzzle-116557926713044017?rf=238238278034563946
This one is very special because it is a print from a watercolor painted by my mom who has passed away. I have the original framed in my studio. I'm excited to offer her art in this interactive format, so excited that I bought a puzzle for myself to put together. What a perfect, lazy, winter-day activity!
Does anyone have any other favorites from my gallery, featured or not, they would like to see in a puzzle format for the ho
Devious Journal Entry
I spent the afternoon making decisions and creating products at Zazzle. This work included learning a new technique on GIMP. When I master something new in the program, I write up a flow chart so I can refer to it the next time. End result is a handbook written in my language that I can actually understand for operations I actually use!
I ended up offering a puzzle with my art work printed on it. http://www.zazzle.com/abstract_art_puzzle-116617927102948142 It's a colorful one that I thought would be fun for gift giving. It was the new, colored background that had me puzzling over GIMP. That was something I had wanted to learn to do for
New York
I spent a week in New York with my twin granddaughters. They are ridiculously cute. Before getting on the plane, I read two of the three books I bought for the trip. They were both great. Turns out the third book I still had was awful, so I didn't have anything good to read while I flew. Bummer. The twins were terrific, although I did not get much sleep. They're not yet two, but they talk all night long! So adorable.
Upon leaving, my flight through Chicago was cancelled, and I had to spend another day under a lot of stress while trying to get another trip. By the time I got home, I had a full-blown cold with sore throat, mucus, coug

I feel your pain about poor quality papers. Although, I too will say that it is another type of fun not to expect "masterpieces" each time I wield my brush. Just whack, cheap papers allow you to do that.
